How to Drive New Car for Long Life of the Engine.

How to Drive New Car for Long Life of the Engine.

Many new car faces issues regarding engine before 50,000 kms only because some people don’t have knowledge about how to drive and maintain their car. And some people drive their cars more than one lakh kilometers without any single problem related to the engine. So the engine life depends on us only. Today we will discuss How to Drive New Car for Long Life of the Engine.

There are some Tips and Tricks every car owner should follow to increase the life of their cars:-

  • Whenever we take delivery of our new car, keep the car ideally start for approx. 25-30 minutes which will make the engine running as the car was in stockyard or showroom from a long time.
  • Second mistake that most of the new drivers make in excitement is speedying the car for more then 100 kmph it makes wear and tear in the engine and some how destroys the engine life of the car.

But people check the power of the car, how fast it drives and later they regret. So you have to take care about this till 2,000-3,000 kms don’t do hard acceleration and drive in speed limit till that time.

  • Third mistake that people do is that when they are stucked in bumper to bumper traffic in this situation engine is heated up and the oil pressure is down so whenever the traffic get clear you accelerate the car in high speed but engine of your car is not prepared for it which eventually harms the engine of your car, wear and tear of engine is also high in this situation.

  • Fourth mistake that people do is that after they buy new car they go to trip to various places but you should take care of not going to any hilly areas for trips because it this situation hard acceleration is needed in which wear and tear of engine is involved. In case of new driver the situation of engine gets worse  as driving in hilly areas is not easy, the clutch can also get burned.

You have to wait till 2,000-3,000 kms only after that you can go anywhere you want.

  • Fifth mistake is that while driving in rainy season there is dirt on roads and if the dirt gets collected in chamber of the car if dirt gets collected there then the temperature of oil will get high and pressure will become low.

Because of down in air pressure the wear and tear of the engine will be there.

Some cars have sealed chamber they can ignore this point but some cars don’t have sealed chamber which may be affected. It will affect engine’s life and make engine noisy.

  • Sixth mistake is that some people don’t engage the gear as required. Driving in higher gear when lower gear is required will affect the engine a lot . Put the gear as per speed of the car neither to lower gear nor to higher gear.

Eg-You are in bumper to bumper traffic where 1st gear is needed and  if you engage 2nd or 3rd gear to launch the car, the gear box will make noise and will affect the life of engine.

Also after purchasing the car check the engine carefully by opening the bonnet there should not be any kind of leakage in the engine. You can also check coolant level, engine oil level, brake oil  when the car is in cold condition.

There should not be any warning light in speedometer of the car,if there is then contact your nearest service centre as soon as possible.

  • Get your car time to time serviced by authorized service stations you can check owner’s manual of your car where it is clearly state at how much kilometres or at how much time the car need to be serviced.

  • After starting the car wait for 2 minutes for cold start. Allow the engine to warm up for a few minutes before driving, especially in colder weather. You can see speedometer of the car if the RPM Meter is high then wait for it to come down that is below 1,000 rpm. This allows the oil to circulate and lubricate the engine components.

  • Avoid sudden and harsh braking whenever possible. Smooth braking reduces stress on the braking system and, indirectly, on the engine.

  • Drive or start the car regularily. Regular use helps in preventing issues associated with prolonged periods of inactivity. If your car is not in use for an extended period, consider starting it periodically.

Remember, the longevity of your new car’s engine is greatly influenced by how well you take care of it. Following these tips can contribute to a smoother and longer life for your car’s engine.
